WINE MAKERS

While Chris and Josh are busy learning all there is to know about Oenology (wine making for us lay folk), we have enlisted the help of some of the top Barossan wine makers, to ensure that Martin’s carefully cared for grapes are presented to you in their best style.

Christa Deans, from Rolf Binder Wines has been creating our white wine range from the day we started. It is with the assistance of her winemaking skills that we have managed to walk away with some wonderful trophies and medals, including our 2000 Semillon which won us the “Best White Table Wine in Show” at the 2000 Barossa Wine Show. More recently we have taken out best white wine in show at the 2007 Marananga Wine Show with the 2004 Reserve Semillon.

Responsible for our Rosé range, Ben Glaetzer has quite a name for himself in the Barossa alongside his father, Colin, at Glaetzer Wines. With accolades from American wine writer Robert Parker and high ratings from Austalia’s wine writer James Halliday, we are very happy to have Ben on board.

Troy Kalleske is certainly sending shock waves through the Australian wine community for us as well as his family winery Kalleske Wines. In his early wine making years Troy was awarded three scholarships for his studies in Oenology. Winning the People’s Choice Young Guns award in 2007 and the 2008 Barossan Winemaker of the Year has been his most recent claims to notoriety. We are fortunate enough to have Troy working with our growing range of red wines.

Now to our silent success story. Peter Kenelly has been working away in the background making our fortified wines since 2004. Before we had even managed to bottle our first release the fortified wines collected a couple of bronze medals in the Rutherglen Wine Show. Can’t wait to see what happens in the future, especially with the white fortified Semillon not due for release until 2010.
