CHRIS

In 2006, Chris decided to retire from the publishing and printing industry and chose a different path.

After 18 months of studying oenology at AdelaideUniversity, he began working full time at Whistler in July 2008. Together with his wife Jayne, they have purchased 42 acres of farm land just around the corner from Whistler and next to Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. Beginning March 2009, they will operate a hosted B&B for lovers of fine wines.

When he’s not reading, working in the vineyard, reading, practicing his trumpet playing for the local Marananga Brass Band, Chris is usually researching his love of Riesling. Of course it’s no wonder that his favourite Whistler drop is our Riesling, especially when he can sit back and compare the vintages from lemon and lime through to our recent floral musk flavours in the 2007 – currently rated as one of the top 30 wines under $30 by Sydney wine writer Max Allen and it retails for just $17. “The 2008 release is right up there again”, says Chris.
